I’m Veronica Brown, and this summer I’ll be interning in the content department of SCETV, focusing on web content.
I just finished my second year at Smith College, a small liberal arts college in Northampton, Massachusetts. There, I major in psychology and work as the associate editor of our newspaper, The Sophian. I grew up in Columbia, about five minutes from SCETV’s offices, and I am excited to have such an interesting internship right here in my hometown.
This internship will be my first time working in a traditional 9-to-5 office environment, but I feel well prepared by watching countless hours of The Office. On my first day, I was excited to find out that I have my very own cubicle.

During my first week I worked on preparing the marketing and social media for the relaunch of Knowitall.org, SCETV’s educational website for children. It’s pretty funny to be working on the promotional materials for a website that I remember using way back in my own days as a student of South Carolina public schools.
On Thursday, I had the chance to work with several of the other interns and the rest of the ETV crew on the upcoming program Climate Change: A Global Reality. The program is a panel discussion hosted by CNN’s John King. I worked as a production assistant on the set, helping the preparations for the show run smoothly and working in the control room during the taping.

I really enjoyed the chance to work on a project with such a great team, and I look forward to the many other exciting opportunities that await me in my next nine weeks.
