My last two weeks as an Intern - Vanessa Ortiz

Hello everybody! This is probably going to be my last post in this blog since today is my last day an intern. These past 10 weeks have been incredible! I had the opportunity to start working on my own videos and developing my stories since the first day and I got to participate in different projects, shootings and live shows. Everyone here at ETV is so nice and welcoming, they are always willing to answer your questions and help you with everything.

Marina, producer for Carolina Money. She is an amazing producer!

Looks like I'm the new host for The Palmetto Scene program
So let me tell you a little more about my last two weeks! As I mention you in my previous post, I was in charge on doing the Intern’s testimonial video and I have to say that this assignment was one of my favorites because I had an awesome time interviewing the interns, and then editing everything together so the video could portray our time here at ETV and the different experiences everyone had.  Here’s the link of the intern’s video if you wanna see it: http://palmettoscene.org/video/2015-etv-endowment-interns  (you should definitely check it out- just saying J)

Besides working on the intern’s video, I had one last video assignment, which was doing a little story about Girls Rock Columbia. This is a camp that helps empower girls and motivates them through music and different workshops. I loved getting to know more about the camp and participate in some of the activities they had.
Believe me, I would have loved to have the possibility to go to one of these camps when I was younger because I just love music so much. The fact that you see a group of girls together who share the same interest for music and the desire to learn more about it while they are also learning about empowerment and self- confidence is absolutely amazing!
I tried to capture the environment and mood of the camp in my video and I have the link to this video here: http://palmettoscene.org/video/girls-rock-columbia-summer-camp-designed-empower-and-educate-girls-through-music

Getting some B-roll for the Girls Rock camp video
I loved the camp so much!!!!

I’m beyond blessed and happy to have had the opportunity to spend my summer as an ETV Endowment Intern and I just want to thank everybody in the content department that helped me throughout my internship, Marina (producer for Carolina Money) for bringing me to her shootings and let me help her with the videos. I also want to thank my supervisor, Don, who gave me the freedom to develop my own videos and trust me with all the assignments I had to complete during my time here.
I have definitely learned so much during these 10 weeks and it let me discover different areas within public broadcasting and broadcasting itself that is going to help me throughout the rest of my career. I had the opportunity to get valuable work experience and to be surrounded by incredible producers and journalists.

Well, I think that’s all from me. Hope you enjoyed my posts J

Quote of the Day:
“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” – Nora Roberts

All the Love. xx
