Heading Out

Well it wasn't intentional, but my final post before I leave ETV is my second post. I was going to be more on top of things in terms of blogging, but I fell behind (Vanessa made all of us look bad).

It is nothing short of insane to me that 10 weeks went by so fast. In what will feel like five minutes from now, I'll be telling my grandkids about writing this post. But time does fly when you're having fun, and I've had a lot of fun this summer.

Sure, a lot of my time was spent typing at a computer, dubbing DVDs, and holding things for people, but they were all new experiences. Well, obviously I've typed before and held things before, but I've never typed news briefs for official news sites or held microphones for educational seminars. Every task to which I was put here at ETV was something new, and I like to think I've grown from it all.

Shout out to the other interns. They all worked so hard to make this place run smoother, and I only wish I'd had more time to get to know each and every one of them.

When I wasn't in the office I was off in some new area of South Carolina meeting interesting people and learning what interesting things were going on all around the state I call home. It was great.

I have been working in video production now for over a decade; from running around the house with a camcorder filming my toys to directing and producing a short film that screened at a theater in my hometown of Greenville, SC. I've done a lot of video work, but this was a whole new adventure. I was filming scripted scenes, I was filming real life, real people, real experiences, and learning something new every step of the way.

One of my last projects was shooting the unveiling of a large "Before I Die" wall in West Columbia. People from all over Columbia were covering the wall with the things they still want to do in their life.

I'm glad I can say I got to do this. It was an amazing experience full of amazing people, I've learned so much, and I look forward to the amazing future experiences I'll have before I die.
Thanks, ETV. It's been fun.
